Today was a great day at Banbury Cross! The clinic was super fun with some very challenging aspects. Everyone learned a little bit about the importance of the timing of our communication to our horses. Thank you to all who participated! The gala is on Saturday, April 14th at the Crowne Plaza in King Of Prussia in the beautiful 8000 sq foot Freedom Ballroom. We all went last year and had a great time. Let's get a bunch of people together this year and make a party of it!

Here is some information about the organization for those of you who are not familiar:

Horse Power for Life is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization (EIN #26-0812311) in Chester County, whose mission is to improve the physical and emotional quality of life for individuals affected by cancer by providing a 16 week educational and recreational horsemanship program. Our goal is to help families living with cancer focus on their minds, bodies, and souls, rather than the disease while learning about horses in an atmosphere of professionalism, teamwork, and fun. Denise O’Connor generously allows the program to run out of Journeys End Farm and offers her lesson horses at no charge to our program. This location allows us to provide services to families living with cancer from the Chester, Montgomery, Delaware and Philadelphia counties.

Wyndsor Farm Horse Show

A few of us braved the cold on Sunday at Wyndsor Farm and had a fun day despite the weather! We had two tricolors in the group - Kaley and Christopher were reserve champion in the adult hunter division and Gabby and Johnny were champion in the pre childrens horse division. This was their first horse show together and they were great! Barbara Bendall and Harvey got some good ribbons in the pre adult division. Samantha Camp did a FANTASTIC job on Early in the pre childrens pony! Congrats on another fun horse show!

Gymnastics Fun!

We had a fantastic day today at our gymnastics clinic! Great job Amy, Barbara, Joan, and Shiree in our first group. And a super job to our second group, Susan, Dan, Liz and Karen, pictured with our faithful trainer Denise!

We had so much fun celebrating Ellie's 3rd birthday with her friends and ponies at the barn! Thank you everyone who helped with the party, especially Sundance and Peanut!

Congratulations to JD and Cheyenne on a big champion ribbon at the last Heritage Acres Horse Show in the Childrens Large Pony Hunter Division!

Congratulations to Kaley and Christopher on a well deserved champion this past Saturday at the Wynsdor Farm Horse Show in the Younger Adult Hunters. You two are a winning team!

Congratulations to our Year End Ribbon winners who celebrated the great year we have had at the CCHSA & EPPHA Banquets!

We look forward to this Friday when we will have another gymnastics clinic at the barn. The last one was SO much FUN!

Banbury Cross wishes our Journey's End Farm friends the best of luck as they head south for the winter! Enjoy the weather and have fun!

Monday the 16th we will be attending the Heritage Acres horse show. Please enter if you have not already done so.

Year end award banquets are upon us!

The PHSA Banquet in Chalfont, PA is Saturday, January 14th at 6 pm
Sunday, January 22 is the CCHSA Awards Banquet at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern, PA
The EPPHA Banquet is Saturday, January 28th

Please plan to attend these banquets and make sure you are a member of the organizations. These associations are the reason we have the wonderful horse shows in our area!

Boarders: Make sure you get your tags in the basket in the tack room so that you can put your horse's name on EVERYTHING!

Don't forget to sign up for our next clinic the first Friday in February!

We had a wonderful time at the Banbury Cross Christmas party December 30th at Denise's house and hope that everyone else did too. Thank you all for the great food and company!!

A warm welcome to: Kate Hembrough and Burdock, Morgan Hepburn and Rex, and Lynn and Ashley Kundravi and Lola! Also welcome back for the winter to Halaine Lussier and Guy and Skip. We are glad you are with us to brave the cold!

A sad farewell to Nina McElroy and George-they have moved to South Carolina and while we are happy for their new adventures we are sad to see them leave!! Best of luck to you both.

Clinic!!! Our next clinic will date will be Friday, February 3rd. The focus is gymnastics. We had a very successful gymnastics clinic in the fall and we are looking forward to accomodating all levels for some fun.

Horse Shows- Our Farm 1/16, Wyndsor 1/28 and Our Farm 2/3-2/5. Please let us know if you are interested. The indoor at Our Farm is heated!

The BC Christmas Party will be on Friday, December 30th at the O'Connor residence. The party starts at 6:30 pm. Put your party pants on and come ready to celebrate the great year we have had. You can sign up in the tack room at the barn to bring a dish.

Our December clinic was a blast and VERY challenging! Everyone learned a lot and had fun. We are looking forward to our January clinic which will be on Friday, January 6th. We will send an email out with details.

To Nan Latimer on the purchase of "Denny." Denny is a lovely 5 year old Hanoverian who is sweet and adorable. Nan has found her new man! We are so excited about this new relationship. Congratulations on finding your dream horse Nan!

And to Carter McFadden on finding her boy, "Hey Boy." Hey Boy is a wonderful quarter horse who stole Carter's heart. They are perfect together and we are so thrilled that they found each other! We wish you the best with Hey Boy Carter!

CCHSA Medal Finals!

We had so much fun at the CCHSA Medal Finals last weekend! The courses were very challenging but our riders and horses performed beautifully! Sam and Slater picked up a blue ribbon in the Novice Eq jumping class! Gabby rode great despite a minor "green" moment from Ponyella! Our adults were a blast... all 5 of them! Had the outside warm up ring been judged, Shelby and Tommy would have won that class! We had some good ribbons (blues included) in the Adult Eq division by our team. In the medal class Erin & Mojito, Krissy & Johnny, Kaley & Christopher, and Amy & Excel placed 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th respectively. Congrats to all of our riders! Go Team BC!
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the tailgate party! Jeff Camp set up his camper and we had hot chili, cold drinks and everything in between to keep us warm and full in between classes! Thanks for a great time!

Everyone had so much fun on Friday jumping down banks, in & out of the ring and over the bounces! We rode all over the farm and jumped whatever we saw! Lynn said she was "riding cross country in her head" hours later! It was a great fun day! We will plan to do some more cross country riding before it gets too cold.

"PonyElla" is a very sweet and willing pony.She is beautiful to look at, jumps and moves in gorgeous form and is a pleasure to work with.

She has been started correctly and is currently showing successfully in the Children's Hunter Pony division. PonyElla is brave to the jumps, swaps her leads and is great with children.
She could do short stirrup through the pony hunters and is ready to go!

We had quite a horse show weekend at Banbury Cross this past weekend. Denise wins the trainer award for the weekend, that is for sure. She started early at Wyndsor on Saturday, went to Our Farm with ponies, and then back to Wyndsor for the late shift. Then she was up early and off to Our Farm again Sunday morning.

Add Teo's party and a few lessons in there and that's a pretty busy weekend!

Thanks Denise for being so amazing!

We had lots of tricolors this weekend, including Gabby and PonyElla, Logan and Sundance, Erin and Mojito, and 2 for Christopher - 1 with Kaley and 1 with Casey!

Everyone did a great job and won ribbons in their divisions - JD and Cheyenne, Sam and Slater, Cawood and Johnny, and Kayla and Tucker all had successful shows.

A special congratulations to Logan on winning his FIRST blue ribbon and his FIRST reserve champion ribbon! Way to go team BC!

Banbury Cross Clinics!

We had so much fun with our first of many mini clinics this past Friday and Saturday! We had 3 groups on Friday and 1 group on Saturday. We did some basic flatwork and then moved right into our grid, building as we went. Once we mastered the grid we moved on to a course of gymnastics. There were some funny moments but every horse was wonderful and every rider rode great! It was a great start to our clinics and we are excited for the next ones. Thank you everyone who helped to make it a wonderful time. Denise's decorations were beautiful! Of course we were busy videotaping and teaching and didn't take any pictures!

Great day at Fox Heath Show!

Sunday October 2nd we went to the Fox Heath Show in Furlong, PA. We are so glad that we did. The jumps were decorated for fall and it was a well run show.

Cawood and Johnny were super consistent in the pre-childrens getting two 2nd's, a 3rd, and 4th in the hack just missing reserve champion!

Shiree and Bobby McGee were Champion in the Pre-Adults winning two of the three jumping classes and also 6th and 3rd in the hack! They have come so far!

Lynda and Barre had a fun, successful day ending up reserve champion in the modified division with a win in the flat class and great ribbons over fences-nice work!

Cheyenne and JD showed in the Large Childrens Pony division and were Reserve Champion. These two have become quite a team and are off to a great start for the year!

It was a beautiful day on Sunday at the Radnor Show grounds. Our horses and ponies were all wonderful from start to finish. There were a LOT of entries and everyone got ribbons! Our competitors were Cheyenne and JD, Cawood and Johnny, Gabby and PonyElla, Kayla and Tucker, and Sam and Slater. Marybeth and Katie were there to help and to cheer! EPPHA Benefit Horse Shows

Our BC Team did quite well at the EPPHA Benefit Horse Shows this past Friday and Saturday. On Friday Casey and Guy were Champion in the Low Hunter Division! Halaine then showed Guy and won Reserve Champion in the Older Adult section. Our younger adults, Shelby on Tommy and Krissy on both Excel and Johnny, did very well and won good ribbons. Cheyenne and JD were Reserve Champion in the Children's Pony Hunter Division! Cheyenne rode "awesome!" Amy Lloyd Thompson showed for the first time in years as Krissy's "catch" rider in the hack on Johnny! Thanks Amy for remembering how to strut your stuff in the hack!
We had a great fun day! Ellie came out with Amy, and both Ainsley and Eva came to the show to help support our crew. Ellie and Ainsley had the most fun snacking! Eva gave JD lots of "good luck" pats and Excel got a "good job" kiss from Ainsley! Ainsley wore herself out helping to water the horses though and fell fast asleep on the ride home! Thanks for a fun day everyone!

Krissy showed both Excel and Johnny on Saturday winning both adult medal classes (one on each horse)! Krissy and Excel were Champion in the adults and 2nd place in the classic! Johnny was fabulous and got some good ribbons too! Congrats to our riders on a great show!

Classic Oaks at Ludwigs Corner

Well it was a very hot and long day (again!) but a wonderfully fun day as well at Ludwigs Corner this past Sunday. Our horses and riders were stellar! We came home with more than a few tri-colors and lots of ribbons. Every division was packed full of competitors and we are so proud of our Banbury Cross riders and horses.

Nina and George had some of the best trips of their lives and placed well in the Pleasure Horse and Novice Hunter jumping classes!

Samantha and Slater were great and are learning a lot as a new team at Banbury Cross! Marybeth overcame her fears and rode Ben beautifully winning ribbons in the Novice Equitation.

Gabby and Rosie rocked (again) winning Champion in the Novice Equitation and Reserve Champion in the 13 and Under Equitation! We love this pair!

Brita and Bob had stellar rounds in the Low Hunter Division after not much practice at all... we love Brita's "go and do it" attitude!

Kate rode Johnny beautifully in the TB Hunter Division. These two look beautiful together!

Hanna had decided previous to showing that she was going to win the tack trunk for Grand Junior Horse Champion and by golly, she did! Her and Smitty were Champion in both the 14-17 Equitation and the Children's Hunter Horse.

Despite it being past Christopher's dinner time, he performed beautifully for Kaley in the Adults winning Reserve Champion. If he hadn't had that one rail down, they would have been Champion for sure! Oh well!

Halaine and Guy and Carter and Lexie came to school and were fabulous as well.
Even Morm, Ainsley and Eva came to visit our later riders!

Brass Ring at Devon

We had a long and hot, but very fun day at the Brass Ring Horse Show at Devon yesterday! We took some fun pictures of our first few riders but as the day went on we got too busy and ran out of photographers!

Kayla and Tucker showed in the PreChildren's Division and looked beautiful as they got ribbons out of 30 something horses! Here they are over a jump and after showing.

Our Modified ladies (Barbara, Kathy and Lynda) looked great as they cruised around in the Gold Ring! Here's a picture of them waiting to show!

This was Tommy's first show in a while and Shelby rode him great in the Dixon Oval in the Lows. Gabby and Rosie looked amazing together as they cruised around in both the 13 and under and PreChildren's Pony divisions! They are so great together!!! And Guy was perfectly behaved in the Professional Division with Casey aboard!

Even Baby Eva behaved perfectly all day long at the horse show! She owes her grandmother some gas money since she napped in the air conditioned truck for 3 hours!

Thank you to everyone who helped take care of our perfect horse show baby! It's a team sport at Banbury Cross and everyone showed that yesterday! Thank you to everyone who helped including Cassandra, Carter and Barbara R too! And Denise of course who did the early shift and then went home to the farm for the day! We all know that we couldn't do this without the help of our amazing behind the scenes staff who were up very early bathing horses!

Lorraine RePirozzi on the purchase of Captain Jack! Jack will certainly be missed at Banbury Cross. He is a super fun horse and we hope that Lorraine enjoys him as much as we have!

DEVON 2011 HIGHLIGHTS!

We had a great time this year at the Devon Horse Show! We kicked the show off with the fun evening classes on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, hunt teams and family class! Denise rode Jack, Casey rode Smitty and Kaley rode Christopher, and all had a blast cruising around the hunt teams ring! We even all jumped the last jump in pertect timing! Kate Riddle and Logan did hunt teams with the Skog girls on their horses and had a blast too! Then, Kate and Joan kicked some serious tail in the family class winning 2nd place! They looked amazing, horses and riders alike. Denise and Casey were just in the ribbons coming away with the 6th place. Our horses were wonderful and we all had a great time tailgating and showing. Thank you to all of our helpers for making it happen!

The next weekend of Devon was started off with Denise and Daiquiri and Krissy and Kayla in the young hunters. Both teams performed beautifully! Congratulations on a GREAT performance by our young hunters! Then Friday and Saturday Kaley and Christopher and Cassandra and Emma showed in the Locals. The girls rode great and the horses were amazing! We are so proud of all of our riders who showed at Devon! Go BC!

Hello Journey's End Farm!

This past weekend we said goodbye to our home for 14 years at 9 Lyons Run Road. We have fond memories of BC there but we look very forward to our new facility at Journey's End Farm. One thing we will not miss at the old BC is the port-o-potty!!

Congratulations to Kaley Smith and Christopher Robin on kicking some tail at St. Christopher's! They were Champion in the younger Adults and 3rd in the Ariat! Way to go team! We are so proud of you!

Another congratulations goes to Miss Happy Hour on the birth of her beautiful chestnut mare (yes, chestnut mare)! She is absolutely beautiful Happy and she has your ears! Congrats on a healthy beautiful baby!

Classic Oaks Horse Show at Ludwig's Corner

Saturday about half of the barn attended the Classic Oaks Horse Show at Ludwig's Corner! The day started out with Denise aboard Daiquiri winning both of her under saddle classes and Kristin right behind her in second with Rosabella! Way to go BC trainers!! It was a big crew and everyone did great, horses and riders alike! Thank you to everyone who helped out to make it such a fun day.

Banbury Cross is having a huge barn sale on Sunday May 8th from 9am to 3pm. We have been at 9 Lyons Run Road for 15 years and there are lots and lots of goodies that have accumulated over those years! Everything must go! There will be blankets, miscellaneous tack, saddles, buckets, wheelbarrows, windows, lumber, etc. We need to clean out and get ready for our move to Journey's End Farm mid month! Spread the word!

Marybeth Fennelly and Kayla Haines got top ribbons in the Novice Equitation. Hannah Myrdahl and Smitty were Champion in both the Childrens Horse and Open Eq. Kayla Haines was Champion in the Low Childrens Horse with Tucker and Shiree Radie was Champion in the Novice Hunter with Bobby! Emily Borowiec and Chateau made a debut in the Novice Eq. flat and looked fabulous! Also, a big thank you to Cassandra Otis for all of her hard work helping everyone at the show.

4th Annual Pink Horse Shoe Gala benefiting Horse Power for Life

The 4th Annual Pink Horse Shoe Gala and Silent Auction was held on Saturday April 9th at the Sheraton Great Valley Hotel in Frazer, PA to benefit Horse Power for Life, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, whose mission is to improve the physical and emotional quality of life for individuals affected by cancer by providing educational and recreational horsemanship programs for patients of all ages and one family member. Our goal is to help families living with cancer focus on their minds, bodies, and souls, rather than the disease while learning about horses in an atmosphere of professionalism, teamwork, and fun.

The 2011 Gala was a huge success. With over 160 guests attending from the Main Line area, the evening included Hors d’oeuvres, Food Stations with an International Flair, Four Hours Premium Open Bar, Featured music by The All Love 10-Piece Orchestra, Music and Dancing, 19 Fabulous Silent Auction Items and 23 Themed Raffle Baskets. Horse Power for Life recognized Denise O’Connor for her kindness and generosity to the program. 100% of the money raised at our events goes back into the organization so we can continue to provide services to families living with cancer.

Thank you to everyone who made this event such a great success. The whole Banbury Cross crew had a fantastic time. Kudos to Shiree... you did an amazing job on the event!!

Wyndsor Farm Show Sunday

We had a great show on Sunday, February 13th at Wyndsor Farm. Here are some of the highlights:

Kathy D schooled Mackie in a couple of schooling breaks and he was wonderful. She had so much fun and is so glad that Mackie is hers! Yay!

Barbara B showed Harvey in the Modified Hunters and was 2nd and 3rd in the jumping out of 9. Way to go Barb and Harv!!!

Cindy Gallagher took Lilly for her first horseshow! They survived a chaotic schooling break and did great in the Modified Hunters! Congrats to Cindy and Lilly on a very successful first show together! Lilly, you've come a long way baby!

Sarah Flynn showed Captain Jack. They won the Medal and were Reserve Champion in the Pre-Childrens. This pair just keeps getting better. Congrats!

Gabby Bendall showed Piper and Early and won a jumping class with Piper. Yay!

It was a good, although cold, day and everyone had fun and were great supporters of each other. We couldn't have done it without our spectacular groom, Cassandra Otis!!! Thanks team BC for a great fun day!

First of all, a HUGE congrats to Kathy Dicuircio on the purchase of her new horse Mackie (pictured above on left)! It was worth the wait! We are all so happy for you. We wish you the best on the start of a beautiful relationship!

The horse show at Wyndsor Farm on Saturday January 29th was "superb," according to Kristin! Kathy D's new horse Mackie, "Positive Regards," schooled perfectly. Sarah and Captain Jack were Reserve Champion in the Pre-Childrens Horse Division, winning a jumping class!

Gabby Bendall tied herself for Reserve Champion in the Childrens Pony Division but had more points over fences with Piper so he got it. Both ponies (pictured above on right) went great.

Cassandra and Emma didn't have the best day at the horse show performance-wise but without Cassandra's (and her dad's) help, the day couldn't have gone so well. Thank you so much Cassandra for your incredible help... you won the good sportsmanship award for the day!

The EPPHA Awards banquet was Saturday evening. Congratulations to Gabby for her fabulous 2nd place award in the Short Stirrup Division. Also, congrats to Joan Riddle on receiving the Adult Sportsmanship Award at the EPPHA banquet... so deserved! We are so proud of you!

A very big thank you to all of our ladies who chipped in for the "Colby" basket. We appreciate your support and everyone just loved it!

The next show will be at Wyndsor on February 13. See you there!

Meet Eva Kathryn Bounds!

Here are a few pictures of the Bounds family! Eva Kathryn came into the world on Friday, January 21st at 10:33 pm. She weighed in at 6 lbs. 15 oz. and was 19 1/4" long. She was in a big hurry and it only took Mom 2 minutes to push her out! Wow!
She has been a perfect little angel in her first week of life and the family is settling in quite well. Her big sister Ainsley (pictured last) loves her and wants to kiss, hug and hold her all the time!
We are all doing great. Yay for another girl! I can't wait for them to ride ponies together just like my sister and I did growing up!
Congrats to Grammy O'Connor on another pony rider!
Gabby, you'd better keep training those ponies!

This past Monday Kristin took Gabby and Cassandra to the Worcester Stables MLK Classic Horse Show.

Gabby and Early Encounter were Reserve Champion in the Children's Hunter Small/Medium Pony Division. Piper got a few ribbons too (he was a frisky little man!).

Cassandra and Emma were 4th in the Marshall & Sterling Medal, 1st in the THIS Medal, and they did one hunter class and were 3rd (with some very stiff competition)! Cassandra got called back in both medal classes for a "test" of the top four in each class. She nailed both and even moved up from fourth to first place in the THIS!

Kristin was so proud of what a great job both girls did.

Let's get ready for the show at Wyndsor Farm January 29th!

The Life of Colby

I am going to use less words and more pictures to help describe the amazing life that Colby lived despite his short time here. I'm sitting at my computer and just looked up at the framed words above my desk that somehow describe Colby's life incredibly well...
"LIVE A GOOD LIFE And in the end, it's not the years in a life, it's the life in the years." - Abraham Lincoln

I am glad I looked up to see that because it pretty much sums it up... Colby lived a GREAT life, thanks to his parents Kristin and Mike, and we all know that he had a lot of LIFE to him! He was a wildly energetic, loving, trusting, playful and loyal dog. He had that goofy smile on his face ALL the time that just made you smile no matter what he was doing! We all at Banbury Cross will miss that goofy smile, his energy and his love. He was our mascot and will always be remembered with love and smiles. Kristin and Mike, we are so sorry for your loss. Thank you for giving him this amazing life and for letting him touch our lives and our hearts too.

A Christmas Break Love Affair

Here is a picture of Krissy Guthrie and Captain Jack with Sue and Shannon at the horse show on Thursday afternoon. This is the story of a Christmas break love affair...
Krissy came home from Lynchburg College and wanted to have a horse to ride and show if possible. Jack is a wonderful sale horse that needed to get out and about so that people could see him and want to buy him. Krissy and Jack met and fell in love. Krissy loves Jack's honesty and wonderful disposition and Jack loves Krissy's smooth ride. It was love at first sight. They showed in the Low Hunters on Tuesday morning and took home Reserve Champion. Then, in the Adults on Thursday late afternoon they cleaned up with the Champion Ribbon! Congratulations to you both! Both Krissy and Jack are having so much fun together! Thanks team for making this match happen!

Saturday at Marsh Creek!

Well first of all, it was so fun to see all of our college girls home on break over Thanksgiving! We can't wait to see more of you over the Christmas break!

We had a great time at Marsh Creek this past Saturday. Although it was cold, all the horses behaved wonderfully and each group stayed out for about 2 hours!

The first group consisted of Meredith Holl on Ben, Emily Borowiec on Tucker, Krissy Guthrie on Rosie, Caitlin Hunter on Andy, Cassandra Otis on Emma, and Kristin on Harvey! We were out for two hours, horses were perfect, and we had a blast!

Second group was Gabby Bendall on Early, Marybeth Fennelly on Bella, Shelby Wambold on Comanche, Kelly McEvoy on Doug, and Denise on George! They went down at the end and let the horses splash around in the water. So fun! Check out our pictures from the day!

We will see everyone on Friday at Denise's house for the Banbury Cross Christmas party! Yay!

CCHSA Medal Finals

The CCHSA Medal Finals were held at Wyndsor Farm yesterday. Our day started with Geneva and Doug getting ribbons in the novice equitation division. Then Shelby and Tommy and Sarah and Comanche all performed beautifully in the 14-17 equitation division. Next we had Krissy riding Smitty and Erin on Mojito in the adult eq. division. Both had so much fun and got good ribbons, Erin coming away with Reserve Champion for the division. Krissy and Smitty had an interesting course, adding an obstacle! Krissy was hoping for bonus points but the judge thought otherwise! ha ha!

Then after much waiting, it was time for the Adult Medal Finals. Both Erin and Krissy (pictured above) rode spectaculary over a tricky course with lots of options for striding. Krissy's score held her in the placings for a pretty light blue ribbon. After the second round, and a nail biting placing from last to first was announced, Erin ended up with the second place in the finals! Of course, the girls were #1 and #2 according to us!

Congratulations everyone who participated in the Medal Finals. Congrats to Susie Wetherill for another great horse show! It was another fun show with our wonderful students. Krissy gets the good sportsmanship award for the day!

Hi Friends! This is just a general update on what we've been up to the last two weekends. The first weekend in November we had a fantastic show at Wyndsor Farm.
Our competitors included Cindy and Jammer, Marybeth and Ben, Barbara and Harvey, Erin and Mojito, Susan Weaver and Bud (showing for the first time together in 8 years!), and Gabby with both Piper and Early. Smitty and Dede even came to play and behaved beautifully! We had a surprise visit from Shelby who was home for the weekend too!
Denise took a crew out to the pace event in Elverson on Sunday and everyone had fun!
This past weekend Denise took the Bendall crew to the horse show at Vince Dugan's in Unionville. Barbara and Harvey and Gabby and Piper cleaned up at the horse show and then they high-tailed it over to the pace event in Unionville for the afternoon! Carter rode Bella, Gabby took Early, and Denise rode Ben and just made it in time to go out. This was Carter's first time out and she loved it! Nina and Don on George and Tucker went out from Radnor on a different pace event. Wow, busy weekend. Way to take advantage of the beautiful weather!
This week Kristin is vacationing in the Caymen Islands! We wish her a very fun time in the sun! Hopefully we'll have some sun this week!

Krissy Guthrie at Lynchburg College

Krissy, pictured with friend Haley Bagwell, is a sophomore on the equestrian team at Lynchburg College.
Here's an update from her:
Lynchburg's team has just finished its fall semester season and leads our region by about 19 points. In the first show I placed 4th in the intermediate fences and 5th in the novice flat. It was kind of a rough start but I came back at our second show winning my intermediate fences class and placing 2nd in my novice flat. Winning the intermediate flat allowed me to point out and go onto regionals in the spring. Our team finished reserve team for the day. At our third show I placed 4th in the open fences and won the novice flat and our team finished first.
Along with the school riding I have been riding a horse, Diplomat, at some of the local shows and doing very well in the Adults!! I also ride two horses, Ben and Chester, for a family at the barn when they can't make it out! I have been really busy riding along with school work but am having a great time!!

Today at Marsh Creek

Today we took two groups over to Marsh Creek to go trail riding. Denise, Karen Holl, Lee Peterson, Dick Weber, and Dan Doyle made up the first group. The second group to go out was Kristin, Barbara Bendall, Shiree Radie, Kathy Diciurcio, and Gabby Bendall. All but Kristin are pictured above in the second picture. The first picture is Gabby and Early looking out over Marsh Creek. Gorgeous! Everyone had such a great time, horses and riders alike! Thank you for making today such a fun day out on the trail. The Brass Ring Horse Show was HUGE on Saturday! Lots of people in every division from 8 am to after 8 pm! Congrats to Cindy and Jammer on a successful 1st hunter horse show! Marybeth and Ben took home a well earned Reserve Champion ribbon plus at least one blue! And Erin Skog and Mojito took home everything but the tack box offered for the Hunter Championship! They were Reserve Champion in the Adults, won the Medal, Champion in the Adult Eq. and placed 3rd in the Hunter Championship after 2 rounds.

On Sunday a group went to a paper chase at Marsh Creek and had a blast! Bella has become the pace event/paper chase queen! The Pickering Hunt Pace Event is this Sunday November 7th out of Great Marsh Farm in Elverson. We will have a crew going out for that one too along with a tailgate party afterwards! Come join in the festivities!

Also, this weekend are two shows on Saturday. The cchsa one at Wyndsor Farm and the rated one at Our Farm. Good luck to everyone! We look forward to another great fall weekend!

Molly Clark and Kit at Bucknell

Kit and I are halfway through fall semester of junior year at Bucknell. I am increasingly grateful each year that I am lucky enough to have Kit here at college with me. She is such a huge part of my schedule but more importantly a huge part of my life. We have been with each other for 7 1/2 years now and I know I would be lost without her.
It has been an invaluable experience learning and growing up with her and that has continued throughout our experiences here at Bucknell. But other than the learning experience it has been, she has saved my sanity on more than one occasion. Being able to escape from campus and school work and go spend time at the barn with her is the most amazing thing. I think I am so lucky to have riding as my escape.
I am doing a different, pilot program this semester called Bucknell on the Susquehanna. It is a domestic study abroad program in which we study the entire Susquehanna Valley and Watershed. So I live on campus but am technically abroad. I am an Environmental Science major and this program involves a lot of hands on field work as well as an in depth independent research project. It has been awesome however it is slightly more "stressful' as we are away all day some days and we have had a few overnight trips. I still do my best to be around for Kit, and we are certainly doing fine, it is just tough to keep it all balanced along with other commitments I have here on campus. But if I keep it in perspective it is just another way we are growing and handling new challenges and we will come out of it stronger.
Kit has made some friends here, including one ridiculously fat pony named Tasty Cakes, but I'm pretty sure she will always miss Magic. I hope everyone is doing well!

Ok so horse related I'm the Social Chair for the VT Equestrian Club. I also compete for the team in Novice Flat Equitation. We had a show here at Tech in the beginning of October and I won 5th (I picked up the wrong lead somehow, embarrassing and would not make you proud! haha but it won't happen again). My next show will be November 7th at UNC Greensboro/Elon (they share the show). I'll once again be doing Novice Flat.

Non-horse related there is so much! I'm a Communication Major. I'm in Delta Gamma sorority. I'm in the Honors program. I'm a Communication Coach for public speaking classes. An interesting fact is that I'll be studying abroad Spring 2011 in Switzerland for the semester.

Caitlin Hunter at Smith

In the world of Smith Equestrian, we had our first show (our home show!) this past Saturday. I got 2nd intermediate over fences and 5th on the intermediate flat. At our UMass show I pointed out into Open over fences and qualified for regionals this spring! The team is great, we're 20 strong this year, we're ranked 3rd in our region but then again we've only had one show.
Bubbles is doing fantastic, and is happily terrorizing the barn as usual. His eye looks great, and he's going wonderfully under saddle and was perfect the first time I jumped him around since August!
As far as college goes, I'm a biochemistry major and I'm also pre vet. I've started looking at vet schools, and would like to be some sort of exotic animal vet (either in zoos or wildlife rehabilitation centers). I'd like to be an anthropology minor if I have time for it, but I'm not sure if that will happen. I don't have time for much else besides riding and working, but I do manage to have fun.

Andrea Fieger at Colorado University

While staying in Colorado this summer, I tested out the jumper world on a borders horse at the CU coach's barn. Wise Guy (Romeo) and I did the low jumpers in the local Colorado circuit. We had some serious learning experiences and some very successful trips as well. I learned a lot in the jumpers and look forward to playing with it more!
In the college realm, I have had a busy year as President of the CU Equestrian team. Our first horse show Oct 1,2,3 included 3 shows in one weekend. I made my debut in open flat, placing 2, 3 and 4th. I won my intermediate fences class on one of the days as well. On the first day I tied for high point rider with two other people.
CU also made an awesome debut winning the show all three days.

Cassandra Otis at the Equestrian Talent Search

Banbury Cross would like to congratulate Cassandra Otis (pictured here at Ludwig's Corner on her horse Emma, photo taken by Spring Tree Photography) on a wonderful weekend at the Equestrian Talent Search at the Delaware Valley College Equestrian Center run by Beckett Run Inc. She was 2nd on the flat, 1st in jumping, and Champion for her division!! We are so proud!!
The first weekend in October, Middle and High school students from around the country participated in this college prepatory event. Friday evening was the informational session including explanations of the different collegiate riding associations, how to get recruited for college riding, what college coaches really want to see from prospects and a question and answer session with college coaches. Saturday's events were clinics given by the head clinician Jim Arrigon of Xavier University and Cory Kieschnick of DelVal. Also there was a college search seminar Saturday evening. Sunday was a collegiate format horse show for students to compete on DVC's horses, utilizing what they learned from their lessons the day before.

Horse Power for Life is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, whose mission is to improve the physical and emotional quality of life for individuals affected by cancer by providing a 16-week educational and recreational horsemanship program for patients of all ages and one family member. September Horse Shows!

Looking back at the September horse shows, we want to congratulate everyone on a really fun Ludwig's Corner Horse Show! There were many ribbons won by all but mostly everyone had so much fun! It was Casey's last time riding, until after her baby is born in January, and she went out with a bang placing 4th on Halaine Lussier's Special Kinda Guy in the Classic! Thank you Halaine for a fun last ride for a while!
Yesterday we spent the day at Radnor for the SPCA Benefit Horse Show. Although it rained for most of the day, we had fun as usual and received lots of ribbons. Gabby and Lord Nelson won a really neat schooling pad for being Reserve Champion in the Short Stirrup Hunters. Congratulations! Congrats to the rest of the BC Crew who showed; Shiree and Bobby, Barbara R and Jack, Barbara B and Harvey, Lynda and Barre, Denise and Guy, and Gabby and Early!

Becca Smith has dedicated the last 10 years to teaching beginner and intermediate riders here at Banbury Cross. Her talents have helped many children and adults pursue their riding goals, whether that be learning to post or going to their first horse show.

Becca has also been instrumental in organizing our incredible summer camp at Banbury Cross, which has been a wonderful experience for so many children over the years. Our summer camp is such a big part of the family like atmosphere here at Banbury Cross!

Becca has recently made the decision to focus her energies towards her family and horses at her home, Stonecrop Farm. Even though Becca lives just around the corner, we will greatly miss Becca's wonderful, positive and fun personality at Banbury Cross. All of us at Banbury Cross wish Becca the best with her future endeavors at her Stonecrop Farm!
